Short answer
Your content isn't landing because it speaks to a company, and a person reads it.
Find out what the buyer worries about, then publish content that makes them feel understood before they ever talk to sales.
Who is your content written for?
It has to be written for a person, not a company.
Too many BPOs try to market to companies. The problem? Companies don't read your content. People do. When a buyer is choosing a BPO, it's not just a line item on a budget. It's often a career-making or career-breaking decision. That's why you need to speak to them directly, not just pitch your services.
Here's what most BPOs miss. They write copy like: "We serve companies across healthcare, financial services, and e-commerce with services spanning back office, customer care, and tech support." That is the same "everything menu" problem that shows up on so many BPO homepages. To the head of CX at a high-growth CPG brand, that's meaningless. What they want to hear is: "We help emerging CPG brands retain more customers by modernizing post-purchase support, without adding headcount."
How do you find out what your buyer fears?
Start with what keeps your prospect up at night.
To create buyer-focused content, understand their motivations and their fears. Are they worried about:
- Their current vendor imploding during peak season
- Pressure to prove ROI on every vendor decision
- Being pushed to adopt AI with no real plan
- A team that isn't equipped for what's coming, and is too stretched to hire fast enough
If your content doesn't address those real concerns, it won't cut through.
How do you build trust before the first call?
With content that makes the buyer feel understood before sales speaks to them.
Most BPOs treat trust-building like a job for the sales team. But trust starts long before your first conversation: a thought-provoking LinkedIn post that makes them feel seen, a blog that unpacks the exact challenge they're trying to solve, a short video showing how you think about AI for their use case. Each piece of content becomes a micro-conversion, a breadcrumb leading them toward "I trust you." By the time they reach out, they're most of the way sold. That is the thought-leadership habit that gets BPOs invited to RFPs before they even pitch.
What should you change first?
Stop speaking to "the brand" and speak to the buyer.
If you want better-fit leads and faster close cycles, speak to the buyer, and see why the best BPO content barely mentions outsourcing at all. Make them feel understood, and make them feel like you're already helping, before they ever talk to sales.

If buyers compare you on price, we can talk it through.
Frequently asked questions
We don't have budget for formal buyer research. How do we find out what's actually on their mind?
Ask your account managers and salespeople what prospects actually say in discovery calls: the objections, the fears, the what-if questions. That's your research. Most BPOs already have it and just aren't writing it down.
We sell to several different buyer types. Do we need a separate content stream for each?
You need distinct messaging for each, not a separate content calendar. Same core proof points, reframed around what each buyer specifically cares about. A CFO and a head of CX read the same case study for different reasons.
How much of this kind of content does it actually take before someone reaches out?
There's no fixed number, but the pattern holds: buyers consume several pieces before they ever engage. Consistency over months matters more than any single post. The goal is that they've already decided by the time they need you.

"We're Tech Agnostic" Is the Riskiest Strategy in BPO Right Now
Staying neutral on technology isn't flexibility. It tells clients the expertise is theirs, and it leaves a BPO unprepared when automation cuts the volume it was built to handle.
